Frequently Asked Questions

Q.
What type of projector will give me the best results with Interactive Whiteboards (IWB's)?

A.
LCD Style projectors - LCD projectors have a clearer image when it comes to data. LCD projectors are less likely to lose their image in classrooms where light cannot be controlled.

A.
800-850mm from floor level in Primary Schools
900mm from floor level in Secondary Schools and offices.

Q.
 Why is there no Sound?

1. Poor USB connection or
2. Audio 3.5 not connected to audio port on computer or
3. Computer Audio is muted or
4. Projector Audio is muted

Q.
Why is there no Picture?

A.

2. Lap Top computers require a signal to be sent eg: Function F5
3. Projector signal not set to computer

Q.
The Interactive Whiteboard does not respond to touch?

A.
1. Promethean ActivBoards respond to ActivPens (not touch sensitive)
2. Promethean ActivBoards - ensure power is on for board and red light on top left hand corner is on.
3. Smartboards - red light bottom right hand corner of board will indicate a poor USB connection.

Q.
 Why are the speakers humming?

A.
This is often caused from an earthing issue with the current wiring of the building. This can be rectified through the implementation of a RCA Audio filter.

Q.
How Many Power Points do I need?

A.
1x for Projector, 1 x for IWB. If you are using the new KAV Wall Mounting Frame you will only require 1 x power point as this frame comes with a 4 pin power board which powers all components (IWB, Projector, Speakers etc)

Q.
Will the room need blinds?

A.
Refer to Q1. LCD projectors provide a more sustainable light coverage in conditions where exterior light cannot be controlled eg; windows and skylights.

Q.
Should I get the Electrician to install power points before the Interactive Whiteboard is installed?

A.
Generally this is not a good idea. Installers may find that both projectors and interactive whiteboards, due to installation requirement, may not be installed in their suggested position. If power has been put in prior, the points may be in the incorrect position.

Q.
What things can I do to help prepare for the installation?

A.
1.Ensure the site has a current Asbestos Report (2000 onwards). This is a legal requirement on all working sites including schools.

3. Ensure all valuables are not exposed to potential damage due to the installation (dust etc).
4. Work Zone - please refer to OHS.

A.
Most situations can be quickly rectified over the phone. If a service call out is required and it is deemed not under the original warranty of the installation, then charges will apply.
